If you are living in a temperate climate, you may be used to how the seasonal changes can affect lawns. Though they may be green and full of life in the spring and summer, they usually become barren and unsightly as the temperature begins to drop. However, there are some landscaping and gardening tricks that can be employed to make your lawn look full of life all year round, regardless of the reading on the thermometer. Of course, adding this plants may require that you do some lawn care even in the off season, such as cutting them back and shaping them, but it will be well worth it for the beauty that they provide. Hardscaping features can also help to keep your yard interested and pulled together after the flowers have died and the leaves have dropped. Water features with fountains and moving water will be able to stay ice free in the winter if they are properly cared for, and garden paths and gazebos will bring some beauty to an otherwise bare scene. An additional benefit of these features is that they typically require a one time installation before becoming relatively maintenance free from then onward. Clean up your beds before the snow falls. So many homeowners allow their gardens to go untended throughout the fall. Doing some last minute preparations to get them neat and tidy heading into the winter will make them look far better once the plant life has largely gone. With careful planning, even those who life in temperate climates will be able to have a beautiful, well manicured lawn all year long.
